All medical services provided by Friends of the Shelter are funded by generous individuals and corporations who want to help save the sick and injured Shelter dogs. You can support these Shelter dogs in a variety of ways, including regular donations, sponsoring a dog, attending an event, or becoming a Friends of the Shelter volunteer.

Sponsor a shelter dog
You can honor someone special to you, while helping to save the life of a Shelter dog. Make a $35 donation towards Friends of the Shelter, and we will proudly display your name or dedication of your choice on the photo of a dog currently looking for a forever home...a life YOU have helped save. We will display your dedication in a frame around your chosen dog on the Franklin County Dogs Website.

Volunteer
As an all-volunteer organization, the Friends of the Shelter team welcomes your assistance with our fundraising efforts. We frequently need additional team members to assist with event planning, marketing communications, securing corporate donations and on-site event coordination. We are particularly in need of volunteers to work in the Friends of the Shelter Shop, in the lobby of the Franklin County Dog Shelter. The Shop is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. The shifts are only 2.5 hours long, and it's very rewarding to donate your time knowing that you're helping to save the life of a sick Shelter dog. And, by working in the Shop, you will see many adoptable dogs leaving for their new forever homes with smiles on their faces! Kroger Community Rewards program
With the Kroger Community Rewards program, using your Kroger Plus card earns dollars for the Shelter dogs while saving money on your groceries. Choose Friends of the Shelter to receive a percentage of the amount you spend as a donation EVERY TIME you shop! It's that easy! And, it takes nothing away from your Kroger rewards points. You still earn your points for reduced gas prices, for example. Please note that you must re-enroll in April each year.
